United States Attorney Joe W. Stecher and the Federal Bureau of Investigation announce the following information for the attention of the media: Event Triggering this Release: Chief United States District Court Judge Joseph F. Bataillon sentenced Charles Parker to 63 months imprisonment for his conviction of voluntary manslaughter. Parker was further ordered to serve three years of supervised release and to pay restitution in the amount of $2,552 to cover medical expenses and burial costs which were not covered by the Omaha Tribe. On August 18, 2007, the defendant, Charles Parker, and his cousin, Nicholas White Eagle Parker, were drinking together in Walthill, Nebraska. They each purchased twelve packs of beer to take home with them. When they arrived at the home of Nicholas White Eagle Parker on the Omaha Indian Reservation, a dispute arose as to how much beer he would be allowed to take with him. Nicholas White Eagle Parker became upset and started throwing beer cans at the defendant’s vehicle. The defendant picked up a tire iron from the floor of the car and struck Nicholas White Eagle Parker in the head with the tire iron. The iron penetrated the victim’s skull and became embedded.
